warmth

After last weekends deluge of rain, we've had a wonderful sunny weekend here.

Aaahhhh...

I actually had the windows open yesterday...in January.  That's nuts!

The sun was shining all weekend and pouring in the windows making us all squint as we walked down the stairs.

It is amazing to me what the sunshine does for my mood, my soul.  With so many draining forces out there leaving me feeling empty, the sun seems to be one place I find something who gives back.  And I feel like there is hope in the sunshine and the warmth it brings.  I want to curl up in it like the pup does and take a nap.

But there is no time.  So much to do.

--------------------

Its 6:05 a.m. and one of the oldest boys just walked in exclaiming he hates school and will *not* go today.  Thank goodness there will be sunshine and warmth today...I think I'm gonna need it.

  1. One of the benefits of living in Arizona is constant sunshine. I didn't realize how much it affected me until I lived in Chicago for several years. Perhaps you should come and visit. Hopefully your day runs smoothly and your son turns around.

    1. Arizona! I have two very good friends who originated from AZ. They say the same things about the sunshine. Thanks for visiting!

  3. I know that there was a season when you were considering homeschooling and trying to figure all of that out. Not that we start homeschooling just b/c a kid wakes up and doesn't want to go, but just wondering if that could still be an option for you? Or not in light of so many other issues?

    1. Aimee...yes it is. I constantly question my decision on this issue. The biggest obstacle was that S and I aren't on the same page. Which I know would make things even more difficult. But yes, it is an option. Makes me really want to let him try it out for a month or so. I think he thinks it would be "easier" or "more fun". And it might. But I don't think he understands that I'd be a pretty tough teacher too. Ha! Not sure if it would help or hurt an already strained relationship. But its always in the back of my head. Thanks for thinking of us.

    2. yes, don't put more strain or discord into a marriage. homeschooling works best for mama long-term when the husband is in agreement and supportive and involved. otherwise burnout is inevitable. Honestly, a month or so wouldn't be long enough for him to "deschool"...usually a child needs about a month to deschool for every year that he/she has been in school. Just to decompress and come off that kind of schedule. With time and grace for both of you though, the strained relationship would heal. Praying for all of you...healing and wisdom and grace and truth...forgiveness and hope.
